Balbriggan Sunday - I do not want to go to a repeat of Bohermeen for obvious reasons . Will this course break up a bit. I believe there is a good steep hill in it to break it up. Is this correct

    Cheers

There certainly is and a steep descent in it also.....every race is different that is all i can say, and anyway Bohermeen has a history of been a hard\dangerous race to do, as through the years there has been many incidents.

Btw there also a race Saturday around the same area.....tis a good warm up for Sunday

It's a tough course with 2 climbs and some quite technical descents. Both climbs are potentially big ring jobs but with last year it broke up quite a bit.
The Balbriggan lads always put on a well marshalled event so I wouldn't worry about safety too much.

It's the riders that make the race more than the circuit. Bohermeen has never finished in a bunch gallop in the A's EVER! It is a very hard circuit if raced properly. Balbriggan last year in the 3rd cat race was a gallop but the A+B race split up all over the place. Even Newbridge, and Navan ended in a gallop in the A3 and A4 races but the A1\A2 races were savage, groups all over the place.

Went over some of the Ben McKenna and Jazzer Wherity route last night, some sections of road are worse than the bad stretches in Bohermeen and a lot more frequent. I'd leave the deep section carbons at home for this one.

The Harry Reynolds course is in good shape.

I don't understand why this is. I would have thought the higher categories would have riders closer in ability than the wide range from clingers-on to uber-sandbaggers we get in A4, thus tending to keep things together.

I think the lower grades have much less confidence in their own ability and are afraid to attack as they fear being dropped after.

I'm dying to get in a break. Riding in the bunch is boring.

I don't know about that - there's plenty of attacking in the A3 races, but everything's chased down almost immediately.

The solution is to attack harder.

The Harry Reynolds course is in good shape.

That's only because it by-passes the "Beasty Drop":)

I do (did until a few weeks ago) ride those roads quite regularly, and they are in very good condition compared to much of North County (I suspect they are better maintained because they are also used for motorcycle racing). The one thing to watch out for is the start section (which is not on the main circuit) where there is a fast decline with a sharpish right-handed bend at the end which might catch a few out, particularly in a large bunch

There is also a tree in the middle of the road at one junction, which may confuse some!
