I deleted my facebook account three years ago, because I'm cool.

So I'm not on facebook, facebook is lame, lamer than twitter.

My mom and my nan are on facebook, facebook is not cool.

Everyone who talks about facebook as though it's some sort of youth craze are living in 2005.

These are the facts about facebook.

    ZOMG likes!!11!!2£!!

    Facebook is the bestest-est..
It keeps me in touch with all my BFF's and I get to join all these really useful groups about haitai and stuff, that like, totally make a difference.

We can also organise all these parties at my mates free house and know that nobody that we didn't want there would show up.

I trust the FaceBoozle to keep all of my information secret...
I mean it's all just for free on the internet right?? why would they sell my information to anyone?

    Shit.
    I'm not cool anymore.
I had to change the e-mail address settings on it because people on my mail list were getting requests or whatever it is they do. I almost got sucked in to the whole thing.

Isn't there a facebook group to deal with this?

Facebook has become as popular as general gossip in every small town around the country.

I hate to break it to the OP, but the whole world is not under 30, and one day he/she too will reach that point (probably).

Also, lots of people over 30 use and know more about the internet than a lot of those under 30. However, this does not translate into a need to have a facebook/twitter account.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

This is not Logan's Run or something where life ends at 30.

I'm 21, have never had a Facebook, don't want one, and will never have one. It'd basically be big list of people I wouldn't care enough about to contact in real life. My boards.ie and internet poker addictions are enough computer related addictions to have, thank you.

I met a 23 year old American girl last week who isn't on Facebook.
Another woman I was drinking with at the weekend is same age as me and isn't on it.

I hate the Facebook/Twittery culture but FB can have some benefits. I still find it weird when someone says they haven't a facebook profile, it's nearly like saying you have no e-mail:)

i know a few lads my age (24) not on it but they still have a look when their girlfriends etc are logged on. ive been on it for a good while but latley its gone really downhill. there were always stupid/funny groups but the lastest ****e is"become a fan'' to see'random ****, a kind of unlock it idea by becoming a fan. total scam, none of them work but every fool is falling for it and i get a million invites then. the bebo kids are taking it over and ruining it.

i worked abroad on 4 seperate occassions so i can honestly i get use out of it by keeping in touch with friends in the uk/usa-its great for that.

the most worrying trend is peoples mothers joining it!! they used to like me thinking i was the sensible one and innocent, they wont when they see photos! i dont accept them but others do and im in their photos.thank god my mam cant even open the laptop, never mind turn it on.

My logic is that i've been on boards for years chatting with strangers. I may aswell do the same with my actual friends.
Just hide all the games/shlte people nd it's grand.

I know a fair few people arond my age (early 20's) who dont have a facebook account. Slowly but surely they're all signing up though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,973 ✭✭✭RayM

I'm under 30 and not on Facebook. I keep getting annoying emails (from people who know damn well that I have no interest in joining), inviting me to sign up, but I've stubbornly refused. It's reached the point where, even if I wanted to join, I can't. Because if I do, it means that they've won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,814 ✭✭✭TPD

I'm 20, not on facebook. A lot of my friends are though, and they seem to use it as a secondary MSN, which seems pointless as they all already have MSN.

I'm 23 and never been on bebo or facebook ever, even throughout college I resisted it's temptations.

Maybe i will get on it in the future but i've no real interest atm

there is some very funny groups, most notably 'I would let Tommy Bowe destroy me', classy women on that page.

    Pointless imho.

Watch it go t*ts up in years to come.

If you want people to know what you're doing leave the poxy curtains open, posting random shyte and photos that you probably wouldnt have shown your best friend 2 years ago online is mind boggling :o
