    Hi Guys,

Was just watching an old episode of the Apprentice UK. In the task teams were given £200 each. They were told to go out and do anything at all to make as much money as possible.. One of the teams just about doubled their money in one day. (Approx £397, not bad for a days work).

This really opened my eyes up to what one can actually achieve with very little. The winning team went around trimming hedges/cutting grass/cleaning gardens etc.

I'm just wondering is there anybody out there that actually has the get go to go out and do this kind of thing..?

I wish I could respond and say yes people do have the get up and go, but unfortunately I think that as a nation.. a lot of people have resigned themselves to the fact that they are doomed and destined for dole or hardship of some sort. We really need more positivity from our media - there's too much doom and gloom out there which is bringing the mood of the nation down and making everyone depressed - a little more positivity could work wonders!

The word to notice there is team. £397, which is a profit of £197, isn't bad for a days work - but split between how many people? Split between 4 and it isn't even great. One person is not going to make €200+ trimming hedges or cleaning gardens

Thanks for that, I overlooked that aspect. But, I also forgot to mention that Sir Alan was saying that he doubled his £100 in one day. I'm sure it's still possible to go out and make a decent return with some cretive thinking and positivity.

Nope.I was in Galway at the weekend and walking down towards the Quays at least 5 restaurants had help wanted signs in the windows, both for full time and part time waiting and kitchen staff.

There is still that air of snobbery with an awful lot of Irish people when it comes to minimum wage jobs, they turn their nose up because the social welfare system is all wrong.

People should be means tested for the dole. How is it fair that someone gets the same every week whether they are living with their parent or they are trying to pay a mortage and feed their kids. There is no balance.

And before anyone chimes in,I myself was out of work for 7 months and was signing on.I had moved home at the time, had no bills and was out as much if not more than I am now that Im back in full time employment.
