Getting into fishing

Hi everyone, I thought I'd like to get into fishing and took advantage of the Lidl specials today. I would just be doing a bit in Howth or off piers, surf etc. I have only been fishing once off a boat when I was a kid, so have no idea what gear I need.

I thought the gear wouldn't last long in Lidl so I rushed to get this rod

    and lure kit C here

Is any of this right at all? I have lots to learn but would love to get into it, starting off with cheap gear like this and hopefully being able to upgrade in the future.

    Thanks for any advice!
