Generalisation such as, "civil servants are useless lazy overpaid cnuts."

Civil servants defend themselves and state that they are getting screwed by the government.

Private sector worker claims he has it worse, bla bla bla.

    Rabble rabble rabble,

Something about the dole being too much, single mothers are draining all our monies...

    rabble rabble rabble.

    /thread.

That's how it goes, every single time it's brought up.

I worked in AIB between 1999 and 2001 - it wasn't a bad place to work, but one of the worst paying jobs I've ever had. Whenever claims/questions like this are raised about a company's "staff" it should be noted that "staff" means: management.

I don't care anymore, they get a massive amount of money from our Government twits to help them out in regarding to lending again and they spent it on buying German Bonds and management pay increases.

Seems like you have your facts all wrong, the 3% payrise last October was for employees below rank of manager and was recommended by the LRC.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good rant

I only mentioned the pay increase bit after reading it in a post above( that staff meant management), my sincere apologies for offending you. Management get bonouses.

The management tired to imposed an 5% across-the-board pay cut. The staff refused and it was refered to the Labour Relations Commission. The commission rule that the final installment of the national wage agreement, which AIB refused to pay last year, should be paid. Hence the 3% increase.

Depiste the bail out, 2 year debt guarantee, NAMA..etc - the Governments stated position was, that it was a minority shareholder in a private company and as such could not direct AIB's pay policy. Its all a bit mad really.
