    Yes in some circumstances.

The picture quality can be affected by using a different brand box, depending on the type of TV the box is connected to.

I don't think you will notice any difference if you are using an old style CRT (tube) TV.

However, I switched from Silvercrest to a Humax Foxsat HD. On an LCD TV picture quality is def better on Humax, even on SD channels.

Why would that be if digital is digital?(Old argument?)

I notice a quality difference between SCART and hdmi connections on my set top box.

Post processing, colour enhancement, better de-blocking etc

I find that when using a scart lead, the SD channels looked better on my old Sky+ box when compared to my Sky+ HD box.

You get a better picture with the Humax for 2 reasons:

    1. The Humax upscales from SD to HD.
    2. The connection from box to TV is digital (HDMI).

These two reasons should have an impact on most LCD/Plamsa sets especially larger screen sizes.
