    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has ever been involved with bri support groups? I want to apply for a support group facilitator position but would really like to know more about how it works and what exactly the role of the faciliatator is for example, it has been made to sound like people will just start talking without much encouragement but how ecatly do you get the ball rolling and how do you provide a supportive atmosphere and how long do you let someone talk for while still giving everyone time to have their say....

I'm knitpicking a little here but I just like to know what exactly is involved if anyone can enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated!

    Support Groups
Mutual support among people with ABI, and carers/families is vital. BRÍ enables this peer support/advocacy. There are BRÍ support groups around Ireland that meet monthly. The groups are led by people locally and it is an opportunity for people affected by ABI to share experiences and to learn how others cope. The groups also have a social element including outings and events.

Contact BRI directly about this and they should be able to reassure you about how groups work and what the role would be like. They presumably have some kind of training for the group facilitation and you would probably get a chance to sit in with other facilitators in a group to start off at least.
