its worse than the black death. the haitain earthquake has been reduced to mear rumblings. the holocaust is now been looked at as a holiday. how can the notion of the existance of a god be justified when one of the most unholy natural, unatural or conceived by pure evil of disasters of all time is about to be bestoed onto us....

.....we cant drink at the munster v leinster game

what a unfair cruel world we live in

yeah why is that? its ****in stupid. out of all the days in the year, they put one of the biggest rugby pairings on a day that will probably starve the local economy out of maybe millions. and out of all the places in the world, limerick needs the money more than anyone...

I thought the stadiums license meant they could serve 2 hours before the game and up to 1 hour afterwards?

    What planet y'all live on?
There will be drink available at the stadium.

Thats understandable, because under current law social clubs (ie: Shannon club house) can serve alcohol on religious holidays like Good Friday and Christmas day - but to members only + mabey one quest.

wow, i didnt realise thomand park wasnt in the republic of ireland, where the law states that alcohol can not be sold on good friday. i must be horrible at geography....

Its illegeal to sell alcohol UNDER the terms of MOST types of licenses.

Stadiums and social clubs fall under special licenses which even allow serving on christmas day.

This reminds me of all those guys chugging down pints of alcohol free lager unawares at the 07 WC...particularly remember the Argentina game, passed one irish guy with 4 pints, asked him did he realise they were alcohol free?..the look on his face gave me more of a laugh than the game!!!

Well nowhere is in the Republic of Ireland because the Republic of Ireland isn't a place its a soccer team. Thomond Park is in Ireland.

Didn't actually read it but Jody Corcoran wrote in the Independent that any religous orders reckon it was a sin to go to a rugby match or have a drink on Good Friday but haven't said a lot about a lot of the crap going on in the Catholic church. They have some neck:mad:

Agreed. They raped the children of this state and now they think they can tell us when we can have a drink?
Why are we even going along with this, can we not just tell them to **** off?

OK guys lets leave the social/cultural/political/religious analysis outside the rugby forum...its not the appropriate arena. .

And take the 50% of the pubs/clubs, all the shops and garages that sell booze and every supermarket that floods the market with cheap piss with them.

Can I live without rugby , absolutely not. Do I care one iota for an industry that runs unchecked in a country plauged by anti social beahaviour, absolutely not.

I'm still feeling slightly tender after the weekend, so while alcohols not my friend at the moment, I really wish there were pubs open where I could watch the match. ><

Unchecked? Its completely over-regulated. Way OT though.

They do take about 50% anyway. Its called excise duty and VAT.

You're kidding aren't you. When did it become necessary to buy alcohol in the coner shop, garage and video store? There's far too many pubs as is, its just they dont want to face the reality that they're not that important any more.

They might be taxing the hell out of it but every tom, dick and harry who wants to sell booze can get some sort of licence to do so.

I dont agree with the Good Friday closing because I think people should have the freedom of choice and that the Catholic church has no place in current day Ireland. But feel sorry for the vintners, not at a bit.

Anyway I'm going way off topic for a rugby forum. Got tickets for this one hopefully they knock the shyte out of each other and play a bit of rugby as well.
