Long-Eared Owl

Saw a Long Eared Owl last week in a Cavan forest on a night drive. Very impressive bird, first I've ever seen. Unbelievable last week for wildlife spotting in general having seen two Pine Martens in separate incidents (roads covered in frogs so for a couple of nights so they were probably feasting on them), a kingfisher, the owl and a friend watched two hares playing and also saw a Sparrowhawk. Not to mention the buzzards but you see them pretty much every day here anyway.

Really looks like there's less hunting/poisoning going on in the country and the wildlife are starting to show the benefits. Haven't seen any rabbits in quite a while though, won't be good news for the buzzards and other creatures if the frost badly affected them. Anyone else seen many rabbits?
