I was power cleaning my car today and the model number on th bot of my car came off and now its left a big durty glue stain.

does anyone know a handy way of getting it off. I have tried a number of things such as carb cleaner, petrol and nail varnish remover but no joy. It a ten year old car so im wondering has the glue actually binded so much that its part of the paint????

    cheers

should soften if you give it some heat

    White Spirit?

I would try rubbing it out with some hot water and a spung. Failing that maybe some petrol.

I'd be reluctant to put white spirits anywhere near the paint work to be honest.

i had thee same problem with my own car a 1991 sunny best thing for it is a stanley blade and be very carefull not to scratch the car it does take a while and then rub the spot with an old tshirt diped in petrol and this takes a good amount of time aswell if your not convedent enough to use the blade without marking the car just use some petrol or you can buy glue and tar remover halfords should stock this but im sire your local motor factors will stock this
    hope this helps

It's most likely a hot melt glue, as others have said, you need heat to soften it. Pour a kettle of boiling water over it and it should soften it right up. You could stick the badge back on when it's softened up to save yourself the hassle of trying to get all the glue off.
