    You know the renewal letter you get that has a PIN number on it,well i have misplaced the letter,,,but i am fairly sure that ones PIN number is the last 6 digetts of the chassie number right/wrong does anyone know...as its not matching my reg with my last 6 digetts on the online renewal site,,,,thanks in advance..

    Only when you vrt a car you can tax it by using the chassis number. Otherwise the pin changes at each renewal .

    You can ring the Department of Environment, and get them to post you out a new one,
    I never received a notice last time my tax was due, Rang them up and new one arrived in a few days.
    Much easier than going to the tax office..

    I'd say they'd tell you over the phone but with the whole public sector work to rule and not answering phones you'd probably be faster going into the tax office...always a wonderful experience...
