    Hi guys,
I'd really appreciate some help! It's my birthday in a couple of weeks time and I really want to get a nice dress to wear out .I'm a size 18 .I'm quite tall (6"0 to be exact) and therein lies the problem. Nearly every dress on the high street seems to be too short and unflattering. Ideally I'd like something that end just above the knee, if possible. I realise this is a really vague post, but if anyone has any ideas where to start looking I'd be so grateful!

I know people will think I'm working on commission or something but...

These are amazing on curvy figures. They have them in Retro in George's St. Arcade, Dublin if you want to try them first (I'm mildly obsessed :D)

I don't know if it might be a bit too casual for you, but New Look do a great "Tall" range, where there have dresses, etc. cut for longer bodies. Also, do Evans still do a tall range? An American pal of mine practically lived there when she was in Ireland, she was about 6' and an 18-20 and had a great choice of funky clothing there.

Yes they both do tall ranges, but it's more day dresses etc. Evans also have a tendency to go with the frumpy look! But I will look online anyway!

Wow some of those dresses are stunning! Do you know do they stock a good range of them in retro. They seem to be the type of dress you'd need to try before you buy!

I think simply be do lovely stuff for the fuller figure!

This dress is gorge in my opinion (and on sale!!) and think it would be v flattering. It's a bit long but i'm sure it would go below the knee as ur so tall.

Just remembered long tall Sally http://www.longtallsally.com/dresses
that i did a fashion feature on before, they have some lovely dresses for leggy ladies up to a size 22. I don't know anyone who has ordered one but the stuff looks promising

Thanks, I'm very familiar with LTS, but unfortunately their recent collections haven't been great!

    Those Viviene dresses look stunning!

I might pop in to Retro and have a look myself.

Are they expensive over here? And do they stock many of them?

    Thanks :)

My favourite out of those 4 would be the third one (the bright pink one).
I think the first one is more of a day dress in my opinion.
It could be dressed up though.

I'm the same size and height as you, so I'm very interested to see what people suggest.
It's so hard to find dresses that are long enough. All the ones out at the moment are more like tops on me.

I bought a dress in Dorothy Perkins last year, in store. It was very short, so I wore it more like a top, with leggings.
On their website I noticed the same dress in a different colour, in their tall section, so I bought it straight away.
When it arrived...it was the exact same length as the other one, despite having a "Tall" tag on it!? Grrrr.

The only thing about the pink dress is maybe it could make me look pregnant? Sometimes dresses like that are unflattering.

I love number 2, the butterfly dress, 3 and 4 are lovely as well though, know what you mean about when they have it tight under the bust can make you look like you have more of a tummy, 4 could be dressed up a lot too i think and I think it could be very flattering with the wispy top layer that will sit away from the body, anyway hope i helped give you some options:D

They have a good enough range there alright, and definitely advisable to try on first as the sizing is not standard high-street, it's a fair bit smaller! They're about 90 Euro if I remember correctly. The shop also does a lot of 'Vivienesque' dresses for cheaper, I got a very similar one for E59 and it's gorge on :)

I love the butterfly dress too btw!

This dress is also alot nicer in the shop than online.
