Power steering fluid

    Hi all,

This is probably a really stupid question but be nice. My power steering fluid is a bit low and I bought some in Halfords recently. I drive a 1999 Ford Fiesta and the fluid is for Fords. The fluid in my car is blue but the fluid in the car is pink. I know colour is such a minor thing but I'm worried about putting it as it's two different colours. Does this make a huge difference?

    What?

Anyway dont mix them without clarifying that they can be mixed.
If the car has red fluid, I would just buy some ATF fluid to top it up. If the car has blue, enquire with ford as to what is the correct fluid.

Are you sure the stuff in your car is blue? If it's the same as my Fiesta the reservoir is quite dark inside, I don't think you could really see what colour it is unless you syphoned it out. It's supposed to be red anyway - as long as it meets the Ford specifications (ESP-M2C166-H) it should be fine. IIRC Ford's own stuff was cheaper than Halfords.

Power steering fluid shouldn't just go low - there must be a leak somewhere.
