Let me start by saying that I could go unregistered for this but I don't think it really warrants it.
My question is, do empolyers look down on people that have failed a year in college but have gone on to obtain a good overall result such as a 2:1?
    Thanks

    Hi
I failed an exam in second year but passed the repeat later in the year. I don't actually write this on my cv!
If you had to repeat a whole year it probably wouldn't matter too much either. I did a 3 year degree and a one year masters. But then I found I was overqualified for a job I applied for so I just wrote on my cv "college 1999-2003 - obtained degree in xyz." It's not my fault that the employer didn't draw attention to it but I certainly wasn't going to.

    No.

If anything it shows that you learned from your mistakes and came back stronger. You can use that line in an interview if ever came up.

I wouldnt worry. Probably wouldnt even come up in an interview.

I failed out of college and still managed to snag a decent job. When asked about it in the interview i told the truth and it seemed to serve me well.

not sure if they would look down on you but be prepared to answer some question if they start to ask you..

i.e. why is it the course is 4 years yet you spend 5 years etc..

One of my interview, they went through every year by courses with me..

i think it would depend on the job you were going for and how closely it is linked with your course. in any interview i have had nobody drew any close attention to the duration of my college courses-they are more interested in the skills you picked up! good luck!

All depends. You can go about it a few different ways. You could come straight out with your hands up and tell the truth. Move forward the year you started in college if all they want to know is when you graduated. Pretend you took a year out to go travelling. For what it's worth, I don't think it's ever hampered me (I repeated a year)

My sister failed two years in college, she had her reasons which I won't go into but it was never once picked up on in interviews. Be prepared for it though but I can't see why anyone would hold it against you if you have a good degree in the end.
