    Hi,

this isn't really the forum for such a request. It is for teaching at second and third level.

Having said that, I am not so sure where your request would go.

Well as an example these two colleges offer the module. Maybe you could contact them and ask how long they take to deliver it.

Since there is no FE section other than the mature students thread, why would FETAC not fit in here with the other VEC teaching?

Anyway, going back to the Swedish massage, its a bit difficult to know why the question would arise as, if it were a module within a course the hours would be assigned, usually 3, but in some circumstances, 2, hours a week for a school year. There is a specified number of contact hours but off-hand I can't remember what it is - I have an idea it might be 60. You would have to be working in a FETAC centre to do the course officially, so someone would know there. However if they have said to you, how many hours do you need to teach it, the answer would usually be 3 hours a week for the school year.

80-120 hours would be normal. But do remember that FETAC Swedish Massage wont qualify you as a Therapist. It appears to be delivered as a hobby type course or a Personal Development module in most centres.

Oh I didnt realise FETAC tutors shouldnt post here. I find a lot of the advice and discussions in this fourm very relvant and helpful to me even if I teach FETAC subjects not regular Leaving Cert ones. Maybe an idea to have a FETAC sub forum then?

I am not saying anyone can not post here, I was trying (and failing) to be helpful to siriusstar. Perhaps I wasn't as aware that there was much discussion on FETAC.

If I came across as blunt or dismissive, I sincerely apologise, that certainly wasn't the intention.

As a side note, if you would like a sub-forum for FETAC, I be fully behind you.

    So, back on topic. :o

I'd be in favour of a FETAC subforum. I teach PLC in a second level VEC school. Also there were tons of queries from Leaving Cert students last year in August/September about FETAC courses and they didn't really know where to ask except in the LC forum. I'm sure they would find it useful too.

+1 either Fetac or FE would be good. Probably Fetac would be recognised by students, though there are other courses in FE. Teachers would probably recognise FE.
