Does anyone know how long you have to VRT a car and change it over to Irish plates? Or is it a case of see how long you get away with it and hope you don't come up against a guard in a bad mood?

    Cheers

End of next working day after entering the country. There is now a new law which means insurance companies have to inform revenue of any foreign reg cars insured on irish policy for 41 days or more so realistically that will be the limit now

Your insurance company will automatically report you to the Revenue for non-payment of tax if you don't transfer your car to Irish plates within 41 days. Tax evasion is a crime (one that's easy to prove) and you will be caught.

Never said i was trying to evade paying it, was just checking how long legally you have to get it changed over. ;)
