by beating Scotland and England beating France by about 80 points:

When would they have been presented their medals?

In an empty croke park at 9:30 at night, with the crowd gone home?
The medals were in France (maybe there are duplicates)
Ireland team were surely in the pub by then.

I was all ready to reply 'who cares, we didn't win' but that's actually a good question. I don't know.

In England with the football they have replicas waiting and i guess the original is swapped in later.

why was the 6N trophy in PAris? If Ireland did beat Scotland well and England had hammered France, would the Irish team have to fly to Paris to collect trophy?

Should it have been in Dublin instead?

I'd say the likelihood is there's more than one.

The chances of that happening were outrageously slim.

AFAIR They do keep a replica of the trophy in the home town of teams that "might" win the 6 Nations just in case they have to do a presentation.

  • Read something before about a Cup being in a helicopter over England for soccer once.

Little different in this situation, but would be quite funny to have the cup in Southern England, ready to be flown in either direction to get to the winners!

Don't ask me why but I seem to recall one instance where the French team received the trophy outside the team dressing room one year in front of nobody but a camera, a presenter and some dignitaries.

It might have been 06 or 07 when the C'ship was up for grabs in different matches.

We'd be saying how good Kidney and all the players were but now if some of the threads are anything to go by.......everyone was wrong or poor or not big enough and should never play for Ireland again:eek:

I remember that, think it was the team hotel though

Nope. There are no copies of the 6N trophy. Or the Triple Crown actually.

They got it before going to the post-match function that evening.

There'd be no need for a replica Triple Crown trophy though. If a team is in contention on the last day, it means their rivals aren't (unless they're playing in the same match!).

That was 06 - France beat Wales in the earlier game, we had to beat England in Twickenham by a certain margin, we got the win but not the points difference, and France celebrated in Cardiff.

Very similar scenario again in 07 when we beat Italy in Rome in the earlier match, France needed to beat Scotland later - which they only just did with a highly questioable last move of the match tmo try decision - by an Irish TMO if I remember rightly

The Irish team made sure there was no need to worry about such things;).
