Does anybody know if the Annaghdown Summer Solstice 10km race is taking place this year and if so, is it on Monday 21st June or the day before ?

It is definitely on this year. They were advertising for it at the Craughwell 10 mile race. I might have a flyer at home. I'll check the date for you.

I'd be very surprised if it's not on the Monday - tis called the solstice run after all. First one was on a thursday, and this is the 5th running by my count. This is a lovely race and the kids race is good too.

Did this run in 2008, missed 2009! Great run, nice and scenic and finished off at the lake :)

I picked up a flyer for this at Craughwell (which I of course can't find now ) but I'm nearly sure it's on the Monday as I had a bit of a "D'oh" moment when I asked what date it's on when it was clearly called "summer solstice" run. I love that picure of everyone paddling in the lake after the run. It really makes me want to do it this year.

Just to absoloutly confirm, yes, we will be having our 4th annual (almost right mrak!) Annaghdown Summer Solstice 10K on Monday June 21st at 7.30pm.
This year we will also be including a team category. With all the recent local battles between Craughwell, Athenry, GCH & Mayo, it should prove interesting :)
We will also be using chip timing this year which will speed up the whole results process, and also allow a couple of our committee to take part !

Can you confirm that there is a kids race this year again also. (It being a Monday night - School night etc). Can you also confirm that the lovely cakes and sandwiches will be making an appearance.

At the moment, it looks like there will be a kids race again. If there is, it will go off at 7pm. We will confirm it shortly.
Re the sandwiches etc, because its a Monday night and a potentially late finish for some folks, we are debating just doing everything down at the pier this year. This means that refreshments will be available at the finish line, along with the results and prizegiving. Of course the weather will playa big part in all of this, so keep your fingers crossed
