Channel 4 HD

OK OK don't kill me, yes I did search and yes I know I can't watch it without a uk free card.

But my question is a little different to the usual one.

I have access to a uk free card but will have to wait a few days for it. But if I get it can I then tune it into other channels? Yes I know I can go to 140 but I'm hoping if I tune it in and then go back to my Irish card that it might hold the saved station, as there should be no reason it wouldn't save.

Then the real test is will it be viewable once I have the Irish card back in.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

    No.

I believe that Channel 4 HD is completely blocked to irish cards anyway.

The idea would be at that point in the process I'd be on a UK card.

I meant that an Irish card would give the "This programme is not available" message.

We'll see shortly. I just picked up a uk free to air card a few minutes ago. Won't be home for a while. If I get it to work I'll post up and let ye know.

    Fingers crossed.

This is true. Just got home and it won't work. The card can't even view the hd sub as its not from a hd box and you still can't tune 29500.

Yep, the root of the problem is that the Add Channels feature doesn't allow you to choose the 29500 symbol rate so you can't tune it in. And since it's not on the EPG it can't be received at all on an Irish sub.

Not sure what you mean here. If you have an activated UK White FTV card ,you should be able to view CH4hd on ch140 while uk card is in skyhd box. If you cannot, leave card in box overnight. Can you view Five USA and Fiver with your card?
