Redundancy payments

If someone is taking voluntary redundancy from their job of 19 years, and they are due to finish in March, when should their redundancy payment come through?

A friend is finishing work at the end of this month but has been told by the company that redundancy won't be paid until June.....is this legal? can they do that and leave her with no form of income for 3 months?

    Thanks for any advice.....

for voluntary it's in the agreement you come to with your employer.
but you should definitely get a p45 on the last day you work for them.
I dunno when the statutory redundancy needs to be paid.
with the p45 you can sign on that day.

you'll need a passport/driver license/EU ID card and a birth cert and a bill/ statement for proof of address for the social welfare.
