Touch pad/synaptics pointing device not working

    Hi everyone,

Im having some bad fortune with my laptop lately. The laptop was standing on its back edge (on the ground) the other day when it fell forward flat onto its base on the carpet. Since this, the touch pad (Synaptics pointing device) & left/right button has stopped working…(no control over curser or selection) i have been using a wireless mouse to operate since..

Anyone have any suggestions on how this may be fixed? Thanks…

Probably a long shot, but by any chance did it turn off the touchpad by accident? Sometimes if you hold control/shift/FN and press F9 (or whatever button controls your touchpad), you can switch it on/off. Worth a shot!

    lol. happy ending :D

Did the repair shop reinstall windows? The keyboard may be set on US English. Does Shift+2 generate the @ symbol?

Nope, Shift 2 gives me ", which is correct, but (euro) key no longer works. and the 4 direction button to scroll the screen page is working as a selection key (like the left key)...

I'm having the same problem myself. I've tried all the function keys, but nothing works. I've checked in the control panel, but all it's showing is the mouse (which I've never used). There's no touchpad showing so I can't get into the settings.

The touchpad itself is working so I can move the cursor around the screen. It's just the scroller that doesn't work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
