Trafficking/exploitation in "modern" ireland

Hi guys, I’m studying sociology at the moment and have a big love of current affairs and stuff like crime books etc. the issue of trafficking and sexual exploitation etc is a big issue at the moment with a lot of journalists writing about it in the media in recent years. It’s a very dodgy, gray seedy industry believed to be run in general by criminals.
Theres a site which has a monopoly promoting the industry and all the dark abuse that goes with it called [deleted by mod]
Basically the site is supposed to be founded, owned and run by a group of convicted pimps, traffickers, rapists and racketeers who make a fortune running brothels nationwide
Has anybody any good knowledge of these people, I believe 1 to be a lad called [deleted by mod] whos still in prison I think and another who fled to England named [deleted by mod]. From what ive read so far, very very dangerous people.
I’d love to know more about this organization if anybody can add info I’d be very grateful

    Thanks!

Can somebody please look at that first post and, with regard to the remarks which border on liable, perhaps they could edit them!!

Seriously those remarks are fairly strong and need to be checked.

The opening post is the biggest load of unbacked nonsence I've ever seen.

Any source at all for any of this?

i think that its a serious failing that the post is allowed to remain in its current form - surely some of mods could/should have stepped in at this point?????

Right folks, by all means discuss the issue but there is to be no naming of individuals.

    Thanks.

Edit: Please use the report post button when you come across stuff like this (I'm sure you all did, just mentioning it :) )

    hi lads,

i genuinely apologise, i didnt mean any harm
i didnt realise names of convicts shouldnt be named but i do now

the man named is known as the media exposed him and therefore i thought it was ok to mention him

however the post is valid and deserves discussion
its not a load of crap as somebody just said

yes theres 100% truth behind this. its fact not a childish allegation
our country is overrun by mindless criminals and letting the public know about them and their activities is the right thing to do so i welcome mature informed input rather than people mocking the subject. if you dont know about it, you do now

if you've no input thats of value then please dont be mocking my post
theres lots of links on this matter, look into it if you dont believe me

    thank you!

What exactly is your source for all of your claims?

You said in your first post you have being reading about this -- reading, where?

I'd also add/clarify that if someone is actually convicted, that's a matter of public record and you can provide a basis for such claims.

Allegations of ongoing criminal activity however are entirely different and if untrue, are potentially defamatory. Presumption of innocence and all that.

Yes i understand but the organisation is highlighted again and again so its not an assumption

In relation to we're ive been reading, the irish independent, the irish times, the sunday independent, the recent book on the subject by steven rogers who writes for the irish times, 'sex in the city' book by rte's crime reporter, cant think of hus name, the 2 programmes on rte/tv3 last year on this matter, and 2 other organisations ive got info from but i'd rather not name them on this public section but by pm if you want them

i'm shocked that people know so little about this matter. its very public now through the media

oh and a few months ago a big discussion about it on newstalk radio presented by a guy with name ray moriertory or something like that. offered to interview the sites owner "patricia" but she cowardly decined and went back hiding behind her computer. they let on their legitimate but then they're total cowards when questions aim their way

i've the identity of "patricia" if anybody wants it by pm, just ask

Found a few references to the website you mentioned by doing a quick search of independent.ie, but nothing to back up your claims. Nothing about it being owned by criminals who have committed the crimes you mentioned.

BTW at least one of the NGOs which work in this area have more than religious overtones, they use sex trafficking as a way to say all prostitution is wrong and all prostitutes are being sexual exploitation, and they are also against lap dancing.

    What's wrong with this?

Simple: It's a complete distraction from stopping trafficking.

I'm waiting to see what relevance this has to the media - bar the fact that this topic may or may not have been talked about in the media.

I'm going to lock it unless the conversation can be made relevant to the forum it's posted in.

    "my factual views again"

You are some boy for one boy - your 'views' are, as it is - opinions and therefore may not be factual.
Why should we simply take you at your word. Whats axe have you to grind.
You have again done what you were asked not to - a simple request to refrain for cat calling.

I just re-read your last post and it think is has to be the most unbalanced post in the news/media section yet

    Hasta!

OK - I'm locking this thread for a number of reasons namely:

    1) It's legally dodgy and the OP has decided to repeat accusations despite being warned already.

    2) The topic isn't relevant to the forum.
