    http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0319/derry.html

What are we in for im wondering?? There were 4 security alerts in Derry today regarding some hijacked van and bombscares and another alert on the rail line from Newry to Dublin (viable device). The Real IRA claimed responsibility for the goings on in Derry. Quite a bit of activity for one day.

Im wondering though why there hasnt been more about this on the news n stuff. Derry was closed off today completly. I live nearby.

What do ye think? Are ya even bothered?

All i can say is put down yer guns lads, nobody wants a return to the days of the Troubles.

When I read 'activity' I pictured a bunch of lads in balaclavas having sack races and such.

    This is slightly less fun.

When will they ever just lay down the guns and just live in peace.

Out of date morans acting like assholes!
Fcuk em! They don't represent me or any of the Irish people I know.

I couldn't care less - as long as those foreigners are only causing trouble in their own country.

The armed campaign is over as far as I'm concerned. These lads have no mandate to be doing what they are doing.

Maybe if we ignore them they will go away?

Is it really just one family? The Moran's I always knew they were up to something!

Agree. I especially hate Kevin Moran. He has been out of date for over 15 years now.

LOL - at least he is more relevant than the goons elsewhere.

I can't believe two people managed to mention Kevin Moran before me.

unfortunatly there will always be a minority looking to disturb the peace process, thankfully on this ocassion no major harm was done, although if their main objective was disrubtion that was achieved

    :(

    Fair play to them.

Meh! They caused a slight traffic jam for a while - Boo hoo.
An average day in Dublin with Gerry Ryan trying to cross the road!

You know it's possible that the IRA were just availing of the cheaper prices in Newry.

What gives them the right to call themselves the "Real" IRA?

They have to be on their Provisional first, and then take the test to become the Real IRA

A united Ireland is an eventuality but this isn't the way to go about it.

Kids with small willies trying to prove they are men.

Trouble is, these kids know how to make real bombs.

In any other country they would be stabbing each other or mugging old ladies. In NI they are trying ti kill innocent people in the name of Da Cause.

Kids with small willies who were responsible for bombing Omagh. I can't believe that was nearly 12 years ago. It's a pity it didn't take them longer to crawl out from under that rock. What a bunch of dicks. I really wish they would **** off.

Aah c'mon now, lot of lads around here like to wrap themselves in the 'Starry Plough'.

Idealistic patriots these guys, any auld flyblown cause is their cause.

'Hondurans revolt against the enemy type of guys'

They'll be along en masse as usual as soon as their giro comes through.

    ;)

I was caught in traffic for hours trying to get cross to the Waterside earlier today

Feckin news or the AA didn't mention it all and I had the radio on all morning

Hundreds of people from the south cross into Derry every day so it would be nice to be informed by our media for a change

Bunch of ignorant loser retards with no respect for the wishes of the very people they claim support them or want to join in their future "country".

Yea... and its that type of outdated thinking that makes them all the more stupid!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭Hank_Jones

Personally, I certainly care about this sort of thing, as I live in Dundalk, which is fairly close to Newry.
I suppose I think that if stuff does start up again, then there is a chance that it might affect me directly.
And I certainly don't want to get my leg or arm blown off, my body operates fine as is...

****ing scumbags can pissoff out of this country! Actually scum is too good a word for them...

I don't think anyone in this country north or south want anymore of this **** to stir up and cause the loss of more innocent lives for the 'cause'.

They should be sent to Guantanamo Bay like the rest of the terrorists for a little holiday and we'll see how hard they are then.

Hope one of the bombs they set up blows up in their own faces.

I don't know about that to be honest.
At least his post gave an opinion on the subject, while you yourself haven't given any thoughts regarding the troubles at all.

The ironing of your post is something to behold as well.
You try to slate his post for being uninteresting and then your post doesn't come ascross with anything at all.

    Bit odd that...

Where you get a bullet shot through your kneecap.
From side to side if your'e judged to be a little bit naughty, from the back of the knee to the front if you've been very bad.

I always thought that it could also refer to having them smashed in, with like a baseball bat, or a hurl, or iron bar, or summit, as well though.

Not that I know an awful lot about the subject of kneecapping though.
No call for that sort of thing in my line of work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,483 ✭✭✭Ostrom

Ignoring them is probably best for all sides. No publicity, no attention.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,462 ✭✭✭MaybeLogic

    Quite right, Hank Jones.
There's probably a couple more methods.
Breeze-blocking is another one, I think.
Not that I engage in these things myself, just growing up in Dundalk/South Armagh, one gains a little insight.
