Not a good week for me. No winners.

Only collects I had all week were forpadytheplasterer and the Package(if only he got up). Denman was my make or break bet and it wasn't to be.

Down.........(but not down as much as I was up last year :D)
I reckon PP's profit won't be down 15% this year, and the feskers will still want to go to Gibraltar to avoid paying tax !!

Need to find a cold dark quiet room to wait on the flat to really start.

Up 200 euro for the week. not bad for a student. Weapons Amnesty, Big Zeb meant I had a wicked Paddy's Day. Imperial Commander a perfect finish to the week and Offshore Acount each way at 33/1 insured I broke even on Tuesday. Great week overall.

I'd say you were licking your lips when you say Offshore Account cantering on the bend. I had to check the paper to see who it was. Very impressed but didn't seal the deal

I was indeed I thought he might just do it. He never kicked on but he saved my bacon on Tuesday. I had Get Me Out Of Here and Somersby and both lost by a whisker. Go Native was a let down that day big time. Offshore Account just one of those random tips you get and I decided he was worth a punt 5 e/w!

Up a packet, Wednesday probably my best day ever.

My bets for the weeks were
    Tuesday
    Dunguib 150 win, 50 distance special = -200
    Sizing Europe 20e/w 6/1 = +10
    Garde Champetre 50 win = -40
    Quevaga 50 win = +97.50

    Wednesday
    Pennek 10e/w = +77.50
    Weapons Amnesty 10e/w = +211.50
    Big Zeb 50e/w @ 14/1 = +1,186.50 (put the bet on 24th Feb)
    Big Zeb 25e/w @ 10/1 = +1,549.00
    On Raglan Road 25e/w = +1,499.00
    Sanctuaire 50 win @ 9/2 = +1,774.00
    Frawley 25 e/w @ 14/1 = +1886.50
....... About €250 on pints/shots in the local bar (memory very sketchy)

    Thursday
Had no bet, stuck on a site all day with no internet access which was a blessing as I fancied nothing and would have picked none of the winners.

    Friday
Finished work at 3 o clock so got to no bookies until then
    Kauto Star 200 win = +1436.50
    C'est Ca 20e/w = +1396.50
    Dun Doire 20e/w = +1356.50
    Pigeon Island 10ew @ 16/1 & Consigliere 10e/w @ 16/1 = +1,626.50

Had Point of Light in the first at Wexford on Wednesday.
Knock off 200 for stupid bets on dogs in Swindon and Perry Barr etc

Up about 1,500 overall. Big Zeb made it all really though.

I didnt.... Its the total for the week brought forward each day. Lucky with Kauto though had 500 on him in 2008 and 400 last year. Got nervous in the bookies so held back.

And in case there are non-believers I had 150 on Menorah @ 2/5 last time out and 150 on Point of Light at 2/7 and both were beaten so im only getting back whats been mine for years.

    Likewise.

I backed Dunguib & Garde Champtre big on day one which cleaned me out.

I made a couple of hundred back up but it hasn't made much of a difference.

Apologies. Didn't realise you were doing a running total, just took a quick glance.

Dunguib was the worst possible start. A lot of people went in big on him.

Both Imperial commander and Berties dream helped be make a tidy profit for the week. I'm still kicking myself i didnt do a double on Soldatino and Imperial commander, no bottle.

    Weapons Amnesty 8/1 Winner
    Forpaddytheplasterer 10/1 Place
    Tullamore Dew 80/1 Place
    Son Amix 12/1 Place
    Tullamore Dew e/w 80/1
    Copper Blue 12/1
12 e/w euro Super Heinz payed 200 back yesterday 6 places in 7 races
Lumped 200 on Big Bucks yesterday too, for just shy of a double up.
Berties Dream 40/1 winner (workmate from the course texted the tip, will have to find out where it came from when he gets back)

Alot of e/w bets at shortish odds which paid back the stake or just over - Denman today among them, and a few losers none to heavily hammered.

Was rescued by an impromptu meeting at work from a disasterous bet on Get me out of here, was gonna lump 200 on him safe in the knowledge PP was giving me my money back when Dunguib won......only got a bet on on Go Native on day one, which meant I didnt lose to big.

A large portion of the winnings came from a decent gamble on Bertie's Dream.

Had a disaster last year, but more than made up for it this time.

had a few nice priced winners only gamble for the craic so not big stakes the most i did was a fiver each way started the week with 15 quid in the account finished off with about 490 so im a happy happy man, just a killer it takes bout 4 days for it to go back on the laser!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 534 ✭✭✭Easy Rider

Had a good few winners, but also had a couple of bad days which brought down the pot...all each way bets, a couple of good ones with Berties Dream and Mon Mome bringing in good money...

    19th
    1 Soldatino (FR)
    2 Barizan
    1 Berties Dream
    2 Denman
    3 Mon Mome
    3 Reach For The Top
    2 French Opera

    18th
    4. China Rock
    3. Powerstation

    17th
    1 Weapon's Amnesty
    1. Big Zeb
    1. Santuare

    16th
    Nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 641 ✭✭✭Gautama

Best yet. Though if Barizan had held on at 33/1 it would have been best ever. Knew he wouldn't keep going. In fact I'm surprised he got placed. Still, a good return on a place.

I agree with the cold dark room but there's always Punchestown....

Man I got absolutely toasted on everything.

Unreal the way Master Minded, Kauto and Dunguib got turned. You would have thought that Dunguib was the weakest of the three above but he actually finished the closest.

    My winners were:

    Quevega €250
    Big Zeb €200
    Santuaire €100

I had a few places that probably made me around €300 but didn't come close to the losses. :(:(

Had a few winners, but down alot as all my big bets lost.

    Winners

    Sizing Europe
    Quevega
    Albertas Run
    Soldetino

    Big Loosers

    Dunguib
    Go Native
    Master Minded
    Quel Esprit
    Long Run
    Tell Massini
Kauto Star & Denman (back both of them at different points in the season, was up alot if either won)

No more bets now til I go the Fairyhouse for National Meeting, Then Aintree where i have a class record (8 of last 10 national winners plus a strike rate of at least 60% of the other races at the meeting in the last 5 yrs) Punchestown is normally poor enough for me, normally doing well if i break even.

Roll on the flat season as there is less chance of them falling!!
