Advice on first Epiphone LP Standard - Help!

Hi all! I'm quite new to the guitar scene but I have been asking a couple friends about what they'd recommend. I was advised to go with an Epiphone LP Standard to start with so I've had a look on Thomann but they have a fair few different versions. Originally, I was going to go for this one but that would honestly be because of the colour :pac:. I noticed that this one is #1 in the sales rank so I thought that it must be the best one of the range but I did notice there is a big price difference so I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

I'm not looking to go for something expensive but I don't want to get something that is cheap either. I've listened to the samples of each but I feel the LP Standard Plus sounds a little muffled in comparison to the LP Standard which lead me to rethink. I don't know which one to go for. I guess I kind of made my mind up already by stating that I prefer the LP Standard but since I'm quite ignorant of the scene, I thought that it may be possible to tune the LP Standard Plus to sound similar to the LP Standard. So can anyone advise me on which one to go for?

To be honest i wouldnt go with either. Regardless of what your freinds will tell you the cheap epiphones are not the best guitars to fork out cash on. Especially if your just starting out.

If you want a guitar that will last, go for a Yamaha Pacifica 112. Its a well built guitar, great sounding pickups for the price, made of solid woods and it'll stay in tune. It also has the advantage over the epi in terms of price and also pickup choices. The epi is two humbuckers while the yamaha has a humbucker and two single coils.

I still have my first ever guitar from about 8 years ago, it still plays great, and sounds unreal after a pickup upgrade to a dimarzio. What guitar is it? A yamaha pacifica. All my friends who started off with anything else have either sold there guitars or else they have been relegated to the attic. I recommend them time and time again to everyone I can for good reason. Great guitars :).

I got a Bacchus Les Paul Goltop '59 on eBay for €600 which would eat a Gibson.

Some of those Japan made replicas on ebay are great value. Orville, Ibanez, Edwards ESP, Burny, Greco, Tokai. Check out those brands as Les Pauls on eBay and you might get a great bargain. Check adverts too.

I second this mans post, just realized the more of the expensive guitars you linked is 459....I think i misread the post earlier so.

Yup these companies destroy american gibbos usually in terms of quality so if you can squeeze another few euro together and find one second hand id go for one of those.
