I know something similar was asked before (I think it may even have been Seamus) but can't remember what the answer was.

We've just received a lovely bank draft as was wedding gift. It is made out to the two of us but we don't have a joint account. I was wondering if anyone would know how I deal with this?

We got lots of cheques with both names on them and had the same concerns however we lodged them into my OH's account. We didn't draw the bank's attention to the two names and they were lodged no problem.

If it's not crossed 'Account payee only' either of you can sign the back so it can be lodged to the other person's account.

This happened in my case too, simply a case of having my OH sign the draft, and then lodge it to my own account.
