    Hi guys,
    I'm thinking on buying some software from www.soundsonline.com - they currently have a 2 for 1 deal on. For $1200 you can get 6 pieces of awesome software. I was wondering, if I did get them shipped here, how much tax would I be paying, would it be 21%?

    Cheers
    Emmett

    21% vat and 3.4% duty afaik. These charges are also applied to the shipping costs.

    If I had software that had to be bought in the USA and the taxes were going to hit up on a few hundred quid I'd arrange for the software to be delivered to someone in New York and then skip over on a cheap flight, party for the weekend and install it on my lappy before coming home.

    You might as well be advocating piracy, all this stuff ua certainly on line for free... At this point the taxes mean more to the country then the money dies to the software companies... Welllllllllll....

    ya reckon?
    <veers wildly off topic>
    I pay buckets of taxes, have done for 35 years and for the first time in my life I'd happily be creative in how much more money this incompetent government took me for at any given time.
    </re-enters topic orbit>
    I'd advocate paying for the software and enjoying a short holiday at the same time :)

    Are you liable for tax/duty on downloads? I'd say that would be near impossible to administer, especially if you use paypal.

    No duty or vat if you buy within the EU (I think)

    I'm not sure you get to choose that taxes are wrong because you've previously paid taxes or don't like the government.

    All I'm saying is if your gonna break one law, why not just steal the software???

    Only if you're vat registered

    To support the developers so that they can keep making great software.
