Hotpoint RFA17G problem.

    Folks,
I need help or advice to making a decision: to try and have a repair or throw it away ASAP.
My 4 years old Hotpoint RFA17G fridge-freezer is running all the time without stop. Even the compressor is snoring continuously, the fridge wont cool, it's nearly the room temperature. Freezer is ok. I tried the temp knob all positions: same result. After some surfing the net, I came to idea that the thermostat is gone. I removed it away, connected the wires directly to each other – no change. Compressor runs day and night and fridge is not cold as it should be. I read on some topics that the fan should be checked, by removing the back panel. But, in freezer compartment there are no screws, clips or other things which could hold that panel, and no fan is heard. Moreover, on Hotpoint support site they do not have fans as parts or spares for this model, so does that mean that this model comes without fan? In such case, which way is the fridge cooled?
Many disappointed users complain about this brand. I haven’t a clue: to get involved in an expensive repairing process with no adequate guarantee or is it better to throw 400 quid and get a new Samsung frost free and forget this nightmare?
Had anyone have such experience? If so, how did you sort it out?
    Thanks for reading this.

Stop shouting for a start, j/k.

Sounds like the same problem I`m having and after 2 services, I could`nt be arsed trying to save it or hold onto it, sometimes you just have to let go of a loved appliance, I know its hard but its for the best. You can adapt a new loved one and call it Samsung....it will treat you right....

Had the same problem. Dont waste your time. Your milk is still going sour and your freezer is fine....

Replace it and dont buy hotpoint.

The problem the gas has run low. it costs 150 to get it replaced and there is no guarantee

Finally got our new fridge and she`s a beaut. Samsung of some sort, but I was wondering how noisy are they usually, I thought at first that it was being loud cause it was the first time it was turned on but it is louder than our older fridge.

Our last fridge was a normal sized fridge/freezer our new one is an american style one, is this noise due to the size of it?
When we`re upstairs and its quiet we can hear it, just curious, maybe there all like that.

What are you on about man! The last fridge I had was a Hotpoint and it was in great nick when I had to get rid of it.
The new Samsung one we have is deadly, no rattling sound out of it, more like a loudish hum, maybe I`m just not used to the sound of a american style fridge, so far so good!!
