Have to call a school morrow for a referecne morrow, never done this before but the applicant has only got his school on his Cv (they are young) but they did have a temp job and have been reluctant ......more avoiding the question as to why i cant have a reference from them.

from my checks i know there was an issue there but they are reluctant to expand upon them.

So anyway i have to ring a principal morrow , assume im getting X was here from 00 to 03 they was ????

is there anyway to drag extra info out of them?

They don't legally have to tell you anything, but if I was speaking to the applicant, I would let them know that I have serious concerns about why a reference wasn't being issued. If I don't get a reasonable explanation I will have to assume the worst and it will seriously damage their application.

A solicator friend has told me that a lot of companies will only confirm the date the applicant work there to avoid legal action. Apparently companies are sussing other companies if applicants are not as good as they said they were.

I have also had the misfortune to work for not so nice people who never give anyone a good reference no matter no fantastic they are. Power trip I guess.

So from experience and what I have heard if I were recruiting I would go by my own judgement. Remember, during a trial period you can usually terminate the employees contract very easily if it is not working out.
