Directions to Citywest

Hi , Im hoping someone might be able to help, im am traveling from sligo to city west hotel next weekend and some one told me if i leave the M4 at celbridge it would be a good route to get there ,but need directions to do that if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated , Thanks:)

You could take the outer ring road which joins the n4 to the n81

Going through celbridge is probably a good way to get lost if you're not familiar with the area. Your best bet is to take the extra 15 mins, keep going til you hit the m50, go south, then turn back on the N7 outbound and it's right along there.

I assume you are not used to the M4 layout. Take M4 all the way past Liffey Valley. You will see an exit marked on your left. Area is a 80kph zone and is policed. It is 3 lanes wide. Watch the overhead gantrys for M50 Southbound (right hand lane) and get in lane. Follow this on to M50.

There are now 4 lanes. You are getting off at the next exit about 4km away (100kph zone) Stay in left most lane.

At N7 limerick exit, the left most lane splits in to 3. The left most is city bound. Aim for middle one as this lane follows all the way to the outbound section of N7.

You are now in the right most lane of the 3 lane road. It gets a bit hairy here depending on the time you hit it. It is a 80kph zone. Go straight through the lights at Newlands cross (next junction) and it becomes a 100kph zone.

Get over to the left most lane (you have loads of time as your exit is about 5km away). There are 2 exits for city west. The first includes the industrial zone. If you take this one, turn right on the roundabout at the top and then take the next right. Drive past eircom and you will come to a T-junction. Take the left and the hotel is on your right.

If you miss this one, then you will see the independant newspapers site. Cannot miss it, its huge with large print rollers. Your exit is the right beside this on your left. It is a small turn off. If you take this, just drive straight until you see the hotel on your right.

If you miss this, there is the saggart exit next in line. You are better off following the road to Newcastle which will bring you to the flyover and then you can get back on the Dublin bound road. Your exit is next one for City west. It is the other side of the road to the first exit.

This seems overly complex but it is handy and reads worse than it actually is.

Remember M4 past Celbridge inbound is policed with camera vans regularly as is the M7 outbound. No point getting some points to ruin your weekend.

That looks simple, but I think I'd just use the M50.

Fully agree! much easier than the M50.
