What do ye think of Tony after those to bad falls today??

I know it would take 100 men in white coats to stop him from having his ride on Denman tomorrow, but he had two whappers of falls.

After the first fall he went on to ride an amazing win but he looked in so much pain in the winners ring.. he got kicked twice in a prior race, once by a passing horse then by his own mount when he was getting up.

Then to get another fall after this.. (not as bad as the 1st)
but the camera went to him limping away and it didnt look go at all.

You know docs could make im stand down from the race if he isnt fit enough...

I think Tony is a super joc, it would be a terrible shame if he couldnt ride..

On the other hand.. doesnt the punter, the owner and trainer want the best possible joc in the best possible condition to ride a top class horse in a race like the Gold Cup.

I'm just looking at things from all sides.. If i was parting with my hard earned cash to back Denman.. id be very very very nervous after seeing the bashing Tony got today.

    AP thrives on pain.
He will muder the doctor if he tries to stand him down on Gold Cup day.

He looked in a bad way after getting off Alberta's Run. Then he took a belter in the 2nd last. Thing is (and I've often been laughed at by colleagues & friends for saying this) IMO jumps jockeys are, pound for pound, some of the toughest sportsmen out there. McCoy will be in a bit of pain tonight & maybe in the morning but will ride, same as he has done many times in his career

Totally agree.. but tomorrows race is no ordinary ride.. its prob seen for many punters as the biggest race of the year..

You would be fairly nervous parting with a few grand when you see the joc taken a bashing twice the day before..

I know of a few people who anti post (about 8 months ago) backing both Denman and Kauto Star to win.. this evening they are pretty sure the Denman bet is a no go..
(Just passing on what Id heard from the big punters)
They think Tony, dispite being the toughest man on horse back, being in a very bad way for this race. Iv personally never seen him in such bad shape.

He put 250% into his win today.. it showed all over his face at the end..
Cant help thinking Maybe he should of stood down for the rest of the day today.. knowing he would need another 250% for tomorrow.

He would be in alot better shape now if he had of called it a day after the win.
Im sure any track doc would of recommended it..

He has two rides before the big one so should give an idea of how he is holding up.

Would be very ironic if he did get stood down. He won't though - he's a complete ironman (just like the horse he's riding!)

I'd say it would be a brave doctor that would try to stand him down on Gold Cup day when he's on the second fav!!

He's as tough as leather and I'm sure he'll be fine. No doubt the jockeys have their own routine at this stage for recovering from hard falls. Like krustydoyle said it probably involves a hot bath, massage etc.
