Hey guys, i'm very new to bikes, but after buying an old bike and taking off parts changing pieces and general fidiling about i've found it of great joy to be fixing bikes:D

My question is will bike shops take someone in to learn about bike maintenance if i offer to work for free over the summer??

I'd love to do this, especially if i cant find paid summer work.

Most places are more than happy to have people who work for free and get to "learn the ropes", especially since they can be easily slotted in if a job becomes available, or in your case, you would be suitable for part-time work during the rest of the year.

I remember I did 4th year work experience for a week (including 3 hours overtime) in a bicycle superstore that shall remain nameless and I never got a penny. Though I wasn't surprised, because I'd previous experience with the owner.
