Paddy Power specials

    I'm getting really p**ed off with Paddy Powers this week. Did anyone else see the special in Paddy Power shops at lunch time today saying that they were going to refund all losing bets on selected races in Cheltenham today? The guy that does the commentry in the shop (Paul Ryan or Paddy Power I think) was saying something like 'we got lucky with our Dunguib special but the punter cannot loose today'.

    I asked the girl behind the counter what races it applied to and she said they weren't known yet and it would come up on screen throughout the afternoon. Anyway when I went back this evening after work to see if i could get any of my losing bets refunded there was nothing on screen and the girl behind the counter (same one i was talking to at lunchtime) said she knew nothing of the offer, she rang up head office and they said that the special didn't exist! Either I am losing my mind altogether or PP are using false advertising to get people in the door and take their money from them.

    This come after yesterday where I backed Tavern Times in the bumper. I done the bet online but because RTE and channel 4 weren't showing the race I went down to my local shop to watch the race. On the screen it said they were paying 1/4 odds first 4. Tavern Times finished 4th so when I came home and logged onto my account I was suprised that there was no winnings in it. I e-mailed PP to enquire was there a mistake on my account and was told that the e/w on first 4 only applied to bets placed in shops and not online bets. I find this amazing that you place a bet with the same company but get paid from a bet in the shop but not for the very same bet online.

    I think I will shortly be changing to bet365 or Ladbrokes!

    Nothing that strange there. Shops have advantages over online and visa versa. They don't have to offer the same across the board. For instance there are no GPs on multiple bets in the shop (PP) but there is online.

    It's all marketing.

    No Weetabix, your'e not going mad, I did see that today too, but I don't know what races it applied to in the end. I just put on a placepot and left. Also I agree, it should be the same rules shop/online, it is the same company, they are not separate entities, you can lodge money to your online account in the shops also.
