DVR/VCR Channel Interference

Has anyone come across a recent problem with UPC interfering on their (in our case Phillips) DVD/VCR player channel? The DVD player uses 541 MHz and a channel (seems to be a test channel with 2 vertical white bars) is coming in about 543 MHz taking out the other. Unplugging the aerial fixes the problem.

Rang UPC who said "in no way could any of their channels cause this problem" but when I explained that my mother who has the same DVD/VCR has the same problem and it happened at the same time...

They are sending out a tech but will charge €50 if not their fault.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

    I'm in Waterford

It's not a fault. You have your VCR outputting over a frequency they are using on their cable network.

I'd cancel the service call, because they WILL charge you for it, and re-tune your VCR output yourself, or better still, buy a SCART lead and no tuning at all.

There's no need to use the RF channel for your DVD/VCR in this day and age (unless you have an ancient TV). If you want a decent picture, stereo sound, etc. use a SCART cable.

541 MHz is not a proper channel frequency here. 543 MHz is channel 30. Each channel is 8 MHz wide so it's not surprising they're interfering with each other.
