dB, uV and TV reception questions

I see that the new meter I'm getting can read individual channel strength in uV (microvolts), I'm just wondering if somebody can point me in the direction of a site that can explain the correlation between all these.

    E.g. if my 6db aerial reads 30uV will a 12dB aerial bring in 60uV (3dB = a doubling in signal strength, yes?)

Just general information like that, I want to be able to use my meter (even with a poor/medium aerial) to find out if I can actually get reliable signals.

Not to worry! He's got a very good business because he's old school but I agree its hard to navigate around. Its a real treasure trove but you have to work and its not for the internet-lazy generation. I'm looking forward to hearing your results. I like his attitude and approach to customer service: that's why he is getting business. People should persuade him to deal with Ireland as he knows his stuff. It could expand his revenues.

Yeah, I paid less than that though and it's the cheapest professional meter I could find.

I could loan it to you (for a small fee) if you wanted :D Might help out with my latest hobby!! ;)
