Please dont even consider purchasing one of these yolks. They are utterly dreadful in every way. Shocking cars. Nice looking for a ladies car but you will have trouble no end with it. A friend of mine had one for 3 weeks and got rid of it due to it breaking down and overheating every second day and twas just after a service.

...you will have trouble no end with it.

I drove one for four years and never had anything wrong with it other than normal wear and tear.

They are cramped inside, the suspension is very harsh and bouncey, they are tail happy in the wet, they aren't really buildt for motorway cruising, they use a fair bit of fuel for a 1.3, the boot is a joke

but ...they also are very good offroad, offer a nice seating position and a good view allround, easy to park, easy to drive, fairly cheap to run and maintain and in my experience very reliable and pretty good fun.

It's a love it or hate it kind of vehicle ...I loved mine

Mitsubishi do (or did) a mini Pajero. Don't know what reliability is like.

I drive a Vitara which is only barely bigger than that and it's a grand yoke. Never gives trouble. The only negative thing I would say is the fuel tank is way too small, only about 35 litres I think. It's a pain to have to top up so often. Other than that, a big thumbs up from me.

I think the other posters bad experience is a one off OP, these little Suzukis are bombproof not to mention they can get to places off road that a Range Rover wouldnt get to.

OP - It all depends what you're looking for. If real offroad ability is important to you, and you can put up with poor to appalling on-road manners as a trade-off then go for it.

I drove a Pajero Junior jeep which is very similar to the Jimny. Had it for 9 years and never had a minutes problem with it! I did consider the Jimny when purchasing but the Pajero won due to its better spec and looks!

The only downside was the fuel consumption. I was filling it up every week, getting only around 250km per tank. I changed it in November to a diesel car. She's still on the road at 14 years old and I'd say there's a good few years left in her yet! Don't know how thirsty the Jimny is but the Pajero only had a 1.1 engine which was way to small for her. I loved her and still look longingly at them on the road :o

I just bought a Jimny about 2 weeks ago and love it so far.

Best way to describe the ride is 'bouncy'! Its nippy, easy to park and, by all accounts, very reliable. I got an 02 model with 23k miles for €3k.

My 5 year old daughter loves it too, not happy with driving in the Merc any more......

Gotta say I've driven one of these for a short period of time and it's pretty much the most uncomfortable drive I've ever had, very very bouncy for irish roads - if you hit a pot hole you're liable to shake some fillings out.

Little Suzukis are really good off road but not so good on roads.

If road is rough they tend to be very bouncy, and steering is very vague. Very little space for luggage.

Having said this, I reckon 90% of them have never even been in a field.
