Just a quick question, not sure if it's the appropriate section.

Ive been unemployed now for 10 months and am currently in process of transferring from JSB to JSA. I hope to go back to college in September(yes im a mature student)

Here's question: As a prerequisite you need to be on SW 6 months prior to course start to qualify for VTOS, by then il have been on SW 14 months, but will they only count my JSA or will it be the combined time of being on JSB+JSA, cause if its just JSA then i wont qualify as by course start il be just over 5 months on it

It can be either or a combination

    from http://www.vtos.ie/main/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=1&categories=About+VTOS#4

    • in receipt of unemployment assistance or unemployment benefit or signing for credits for at least six months

but am wondering, since you mention college, if you are meant eligibility for BTEA rather than VTOS...

No i meant VTOS, its pretty the same as BTEA? and because im on SW for over 1 year i think il get extra €31 on VTOS

The thing I noticed with BTEA is that you wont get SW during the summer months off college whereas with VTOS you do

You come off BTEA for the summer, but if you haven't a job lined up you are eligible to go back on JB or JA for those holiday months and be restored to BTEA when your course term recommences.
