Vehicles damaged by customer's child - who pays?

Just wanted to check what my friend's rights are in this situation:

He is a self-employed tradesperson who was working at a private house. The customer's child hit a golfball into the side of his work vehicle (parked in the driveway of the house), leaving a substantial dent that will cost approximately €500 to fix.

The customer is reluctant to pay for the damage. I just wanted to check that, if it comes down to legal action, my friend is indeed entitled to get it fixed?

He has already obtained several written quotes from various panelbeaters and given these to the customer. There is no question but that it was the child who caused the damage, and the customer isn't denying that either, she just doesn't want to pay because she's claiming that she can't afford it. However the damage needs to be fixed, and my friend can't afford it either!!

    Thanks in advance.

Just add it to the final bill, but not directly. Just like the Government would do:rolleyes:

The public liability on the house insurance should cover it.

Yes, I think he mentioned that to her ... I suppose it doesn't really matter whether she pays it herself or through insurance, as long as it's her that's responsible for paying it.

I think he is about ten.
