    Hi, Could some on please explain to me the difference between span of control and chain command.

    The chain of command is the line of authority down through a business. For example rather than a line worker reporting directly to the CEO, the line worker reports to her supervisor, the supervisor reports to the operations manager and the operations manager reports to the CEO. Modern organisations are moving towards a flatter chain with less links in the chain.

    The span of control is simple its the number of subordinates a supervisor has.
