Checking bags all the way through - do i have to?

    Hi there,
    Im off to Oz tomorow. I need to pick up some whiskey for my bro in Heathrow. And as I cant carry it on...
    Dublin > Kuala Lumpur > Sydney
    Do I check my bags the whole way through or can I pick them up in Londaon and then check them through?

    You can ask for them to check to Heathrow only - they might not want to (or may not be allowed to if it's airline policy), but in theory it can be done. It's called short-checking.

    Don't forget that you need to buy the whiskey in Dublin so that you can put it in your bag before you check it in again in LHR.

    If you are buying in duty free dont they put it on the plane for you?

    You should be fine in bringing your duty free in your hand luggage in KL as long as the Heathrow duty free shop packs in a clear tamper-evident bag and you retain the receipt.
