Passat 2004 1.6L - power loss

    Hi everyone,

I'm facing a very funny problem on my Passat 2004 1.6L. Everytime the car gets to 100km/h (60mph) it suddenly losses power for a moment and then it's fine. I had the car checked out on the computer and fixed all the errors it showed.

Had to replace the break light switch and airflow meter. I also replaced oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, timing belt and the water pump recently. The problem is still ongoing.

    Any advise ?

was going to suggest the air flow meter, but you say that it was replaced. What is the mileage? Did you get all that work done in one place - if so, bring it back.
If not, check the air flow meter again. That should be showing a fault tho.....

Coil packs have been known to break down, will usually throw up misfire codes for cylinders that share a wasted spark, i.e 1 and 4 or 2 and 3. Can be tested using oscilloscope/scanner.
Otherwise, check throttle body and suroundng vacuum piping for any holes/blockages.

Yes all the work was done in one place. I actually payed 590 euro for the repairs. Got a genuine VW air flow meter not some chinese thing.
    The mileage is 105000KM - about 70000miles.

The computer had never recorded any errors from misfire... they have checked the history and also checked it while running. I can bring it back if you guys think this might help.... It is funny as it happens only when it goes past the 100km/m mark .... in any gear! 4th or 5th...
