Anybody know if these are legal or not ?
    Cheers.

yes they are legal once its not mounted on the rifle, you need an authorisation from garda super to mount one on your rifle

Legal but daft price for Gen 1 technology. Have a look here http://www.heinnie.com/Optics/c-1-100/ for good value and gen 1.5 to 2.

Heinnie are excellent to deal with!

Night vision equipment is something I have researched in detail.

I have spoken to those that use it for a living and, read all the marketing propaganda. The result is that, what is available to the civilian market is nothing more than hyped up junk and from a hunting point of view, for scouting obviously, the military grade is not much better.

The end result of many months of research is that true night vision equipment has a long long way to go before it is of any use to hunters.

    I concur,
I have used Civvies and Military.
civvies is ****e, Military is only ok, and very heavy.

No magnification and a lot of distortion
wait another 5 years me thinks

The gen 3 stuff is excellent but if its american made is not available for export ( and the price and paperwork will scare you)

That goggle set is legal so long as it isnt mounted on a firearm as "
meathshooter1" said and as "Rosahane" suggested that price is a bit OTT.... there are russian companies offering the same spec goggles ... but i cannot on there quality as ive yet to work with them.

Now if you use a Lighforce lamp with a UV filter and paint the Target, Things are different ;)
The UV filter is expensive though

Has anyone tried playing around with a camcorder and a IR light source, I've seen some stuff on u-tube about lads doing it. If it worked out it would seem like a cheap way to see in the dark and even record your shooting.

Not to mention that the fox is devilishly hard to hold still while you slap on the Dulux...
