Sending 'I'm Leaving...' email Dilemna

I am finishing up my current job on Friday and was going to send around an email to anyone I had worked with to let them know I was moving on.

However, my boss has said he is going to do it 'on my behalf'. I just think it would make more sense if I wrote and sent it from my own address. I've emailed my boss to suggest sending the email he writes from my email address, but have got no response (usually he is quick to reply).

Now, maybe I'm just being paranoid, but why can't I see this email? Is he telling the clients that I have been let go (which I haven't) or is he afraid I'm going to try and poach clients (which I also have no intention of doing)?

Would it be cheeky of me to request to see the email he is going to/has sent to the clients about me leaving. Thanks

he is scared of what you are going to say :)

maybe get your retaliation in first, and send it out Thursday night/Friday morning :)

I wouldnt worry, the email he/she is sending is probably more of an official person X is leaving, person Y will be covering, here are the plans going forward. In my experience, it is expected that management send out such an email to employee's and customers to ensure there is minimal confusion.

Your email is a personal email, I am going for beers.., my new contact address is... etc..

Most employers don't generally have an issue with those emails.. I would imagine this would be the same.. but you never know.. I would clarify the type of email you are sending with your boss and await their response.

Say that unless you ave input, you'll send one out regardless.

I think you should do what your manager tells you to do. No point burning bridges on your last day...

He'll more than likely copy you into the email..

And what's to stop you from following up later with your own email to make it personal.. I'm sure he'd have no problem with that.

I don't think it makes sense for him to send an email in his words from your email address though.. that's a bit mad! Prob why he hasn't commented on this suggestion methinks.
