I'm a girl and I'm interested in learning boxing and most local to me is the monkstown boxing club. I have the number for them but I was wondering if any of you have gone there, before I ring them and talk to them do you guys know if

    - they allow girls to join?
    - they cater for beginners?/they train beginners?
    - where they do the boxing?

    On www.mountwood.ie, it says
a boxing club recently grew from the CDP and is currently running in the same building as the CDP
. Do they mean the Monkstown boxing club? Where is the CDP?

Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, I'd be really interested in getting to know a bit more about boxing in my local area without sounding stupid and asking so many questions on the phone.
If anyone could get back to me I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Em. x

I am a coach in monkstown boxing club, so can help ya out and will try anwser your questions to me bestest.

they allow girls to join? - yes we cater for girls.
they cater for beginners?/they train beginners? - yes at the moment we have quite a few beginners
where they do the boxing? - Mondays & Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm.

On www.mountwood.ie, it says . Do they mean the Monkstown boxing club? Where is the CDP?.........so the CDP is the Community Development Project, basicly they look after groups and help various groups in the start up phase. So the boxing club was apart of the CDP Group when we first started up, but after one year we set up our own committee etc and went our own way. The CDP look after the community centre were we are based.

If you need any more info please just shout.
    Cheers

So are you located at the community centre in Fitzgerald Park? Do you have any information on prices and that?

Could I politely enquire as to what format the training takes?

I am looking for a place where I can just walk in and start hitting a bag, doing some sit ups, etc.

Or do you only offer regimented training where everyone follows the same order?

It is all good as far as I am concerned, I was just wondering how you did it.

    Thanks.

Yep we are located in the newly built Mountwood Community Centre on the 3rd floor. Our seniors/beginners train on Mondays & Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm and their no membership fee but subs are just €2 per night.

The training is regimented esp for beginners. Each night there is a core training of bagwork, technique & fitness work. Then to add we have sparring, circuit training, strength training, jogging & other fitness work to add to the night, but obviously we cant do all that on one night so we have the core with maybe 1 or 2 of the others each night.
