Living in sligo and just seen on UPC website that VIVA, ITV2, 3 and 4 have been added to the channel lineup. Problem is I'm only getting ITV2 so far are they eventually going to add the other 3 channels or is it just where I live?

If you have the max pack they don't give you e4 music, hallmark and a couple of other channels unless you live in Dublin

Its considerably more than a couple missing here too, and we pay the same price for the max as dublin, hardly seems fair.

Are you on MMDS by any chance?

MMDS can't carry as many channels as cable.

UPC wont care so long as you continue to pay for it.

I think it is to do with infrastructure. The older chorus networks cannot carry as much data as NTL's, therefore the amount of channels are limited until the network is upgraded. That's my guess.

I know that in Dublin, Waterford and Galway were pretty much have the exact same service.

i am paying the max price for the less channels on MMDS unfortunatly, of course im kinda retarded when it comes to this and i would never have gotten the package if i had known we would be limited with the channels

they want 100euro if i cancel my subscription before the end of the contract!

any way around this? or to get the full channels in?

    No and No, sorry.

You might have an argument under Consumer Protection Act 207, if the service isn't as described. But I expect UPC have their backs covered here with sneaky astericks and small text.

But still worth a try, write a registered letter of complaint to UPC HQ's pointing out you didn't get the channels they advertised and that they therefore aren't delivering the advertised service and that therefore you want to break the contract at no cost per the Consumer Protection Act and that if they don't allow you to you will register an official letter of complaint to the National Consumer Agency.

I expect UPC would then leave you break the contract, just to safe themselves hassle.

I think some small (town, not city) cable systems are just fed with the MMDS Digital, with nothing extra (digital) added (even though cable can have more capacity than MMDS)
