Fuel Economy of Commercial Vehicles

    Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I'm thinking of changing over to one of the folowing diesel commercials:

    - Ford Focus
    - VW Golf
    - Opel Astra
    - Nissan Almera
    - Renault Megane.

Depending on the funds I'll probably be looking at the 2006 - 2008 bracket.

I'll be doing a fair bit of mileage so fuel economy is very high on my agenda.

Can anyone give me an overview on how each of these cars compare on fuel economy or point me in the direction of an appropriate thread.

    Thanks!!

If you get the figures for the 3 door passenger model it should be more or less the same, there's no offical figures for the commercial versions as those sold in Ireland are simply passanger cars with seating removed.

exactly, the MPG will be basically the same... No Difference!

I think people get a bit obsessed with fuel consumption. True, your annual diesel bill might be pretty big but the difference between car A and car b of roughly the same size and type is likely to be pretty miniscule.

Buy on reliability stats, comfort and value instead. Of those you mention i'd probably pick the Ford.
