I presume you meant 74,000 miles?

Sounds like the glow plugs. had mine replaced on my previous vectra around the 60,000 mark and it cured the problem

yes meant 74k, glowplugs are fine, leakoff lines have been replaced too..

Would be worth putting a fault code reader on it. Might show up something. Only one of my glow plugs went and it didn't register the spanner fault light but showed up with the scanner. Even with one gone it made the car very hard to start

Car went on computer but showing no fault...
Do these 1.9 cdti give many problems or are they reliable enough...

Check your battery & fuel filter are ok. Just a guess.

Have a look over at www.vectra-c.com its a very good owners club. I was a member for years and they certainly know their stuff. I had the 150 bhp version which is a fairly different engine. It was reliable enough but had started to show symptoms of the dreaded swirl valve issue so when the opportunity came up to change it I did. The 120bhp does not have this issue and is generally a more reliable block but obviously without the considerable extra grunt of the 150 version. The suspension problems are the real issue with Vectra's but I do miss my SRi

someone mentioned to me it could be the injector seals

Kincaid when your cranking the car (as in; turning key in ignition) does it sound like its cranking properly or does it sound sluggish or irregular?

    cranking ok

won't start now at all , starter must be knackered

Your battery has died. Did you try jump-starting from another car?

i wish it was only the battery, had it charged, its fine..
seems all the churning over to get it started hasn't helped the starter
