PS2 DRE problem

I'm looking for some advice on what I should do about a second hand slim PS2 I bought from GameStop. I bought it just under two months ago so it's still in warranty if I need to bring it back.

The problem is that the PS2 wouldn't read dual layer DVDs, so whilst Dark Cloud was working fine when I stuck it on, Yakuza 2 and God of War don't work. However, after a little googling, I read a suggestion that placing the PS2 vertically could make them work. So I put the PS2 on it's side and 'hey presto' Yakuza 2 was working. I think the laser is slightly out of line.

So my question to my fellow Boardsies is, should I bring it back to GameStop and get another one that will play games regardless of orientation? Or is my problem a non-issue really and something that people always end up having to do with PS2s? I would hate for this to be a sign that the thing is half knackered and will break on me a few months down the line when it's out of warranty. Hmm...
