    Hya folk.
Trying to source a little information and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a WWII aircraft for a photoshoot. Real or replica, flying or grownded. Would there be any on display and available to members of the publc for taking photos close up.
Mods: I quick scanned the charter but if my post here is innapropiate please delete.

There is a Beech 18 in US marking based at Weston but it's marking in post war colours

If you want a warplane you're out of luck. There's none here in Ireland.:(

Appricate the link Airvan. That plane would have been wonderful - the pinup perfectly suited to the concept - but to get 10 people and the photographer over to Weston is a bit byond the budgit :).

Perhaps I'll get an RC model aircraft and play around with perspective to frame the photographs.

    Op

Where are you based if getting to Weston is beyond budget ?

Might bring some more ideas out of the woodwork

    /Kicks self
    My mistake.
I didn't know of the existance of Weston airport. My UK rearing made me jump to the conclusioin that Weston here = Weston over there. When talking about airports I assumed ye lot would think nothing of being international and blithly refering to UK airports just as easly as irish ones.

    Compleatly my fault here.

Thanks for all assistance (and for not laughing too loudly at a Dub who dosen't know Weston Airport)

I think that there's a Piper L-4 Cub in WWII D-Day markings based at Weston too.

    LOL Well yes I could
    blithly refer to UK airports
. But I made the natural assumption you would be looking a bit close to home. In any case Weston airfield in Weston Super Mare only really has the helicopter museum. If I was suggesting Britain, Duxford or Shuttleworth would be the places to go. But Britain is littered with WW2 aircraft.

I'm not surprised you've barely heard of Weston Airport. The South Dublin CC won't even allow signs directing people to the airport despite it being there since 1937. They would like it closed down. So you've probably passed it plenty of times totally unaware of it's existence.

There is also a Grumman Duck which is also of the period although in civilian markings.

You could do worse than ring and ask the airport management. They might put you in touch with the owner. They like a bit of PR to balance the negative attitude of the authorities.

There is also the C47/DC3 as mentioned in another thread which is definitely a WW2 veteran (just).
