    For those who weren't around:

There was a 1/4 mile dragrace opportunity in Enniskillen today. We had 17 degrees celsius, no rain, a whole lot of nice metal and some real good fun.

Its a shame a nice event like this are ruined by the usual group of bottom feeders arriving in their jap tin cans. I love seeing an nice American V8 muscle car doing what it was built for!

The muscle cars were running on their own for about half an hour and honestly, their times were no match for most of the modern cars. The only one running in the regular groups was the '65 Mustang Fastback.

Best time in my group (and yep .. that's me in the M5, if yer in doubt) was the Ford Granada, which rocketed a 6l V8, as far as I found out. 1.7s faster than I could squeeze out of my beast.

All of japs that arrived had to be taken VERY seriously and not underestimated. Especially the 600 bhp Nissan was quite some surprise for me. The cars were split into 4 groups, which was a pretty fair split.

Here's the outline for the event:

    DRAGRound12010-FLYERtoPRINT.jpg

CLASS 4. (EG: CRX, Saxo VTS, Corsa GSi)
    <1600cc 16v / 1800cc 8v Naturally Aspirated...<1000cc Turbo / SC... 2wd only
    Excludes all space frame chassis,
    Excludes all TDi engines >1400cc

CLASS 3. (EG: Honda Civic R, Mini Cooper S, Starlet Turbo)
    <2980cc N.A...<1600cc Turbo / SC....... 2wd only --|-- (TDi engines < 2900cc, 2wd & 4wd)
    Excludes all space frame chassis.
Nos only permitted on NA cars and Forced Induction <1500cc.

CLASS 2. (EG: Silvia, M3, RX7, Skyline GTST)
    4wd cars <2980cc N.A...<1800cc Turbo / SC.
Any 2wd passenger vehicle with any engine.

CLASS 1. (EG: Evo, Sub, GTR)
Any passenger vehicle with any engine and transmission configuration.

I wonder if a non moderator had made such a derogatory comment would he/she have been quickly scolded.

So essentially you're saying; if you drive a modified Jap car that makes you a scumbag?

I was upset when I clicked into this thread, because I misread 'dragrace' as 'disgrace', and I was expecting to have a good harrumph about something (roundabouts, lane discipline, red light-breaking cyclists, whatever). Imagine my disappointment. :(

Then I read your post. Thank you! Harrumph, I say. :D

+ 1, I've been infracted (several times) for less. 'tis a wonder you weren't done for "back seat modding", that's one of their favourites that they pull out when the egg is streaming down their face.

Some of the mods are top class though, but the numpties give them all a bad name.

I think the guys made a genuine mistake RJ. I think he's taken a very quick look at the thread & assumed i made the remark posted by lightning. I think?

    Never mind.

    any times?

Ive taken a couple of my Cortinas down the quarter mile and I would guess all the cars competing would beat my 16/17 second times.

I can't do for the music, as that was actually played through the speakers at the event.

    The Granada was 11.47s.
Two of the Skylines were around 11.7s and 12s, another Nissan 11.9s. Toyota Supra 11.93s.
    Evo7 12.05s.
My best time in the M5 was 13.2s.

Would be too much to list them all. I'm not sure, if the organisers are publishing the results online somewhere.

You should indeed. The presence of the V12 could have been interesting :)
